Bio
We are living through a mass disabling event, more and more people are identifying as part of the LGBTQIA+ community and 1 in 5 working age people in the UK has a disability. Companies are struggling to recruit and retain staff. Disabled and LGBTQIA+ people struggling to find and remain in suitable employment. What if I told you we could address all of this at the same time? Using my extensive experience, I help companies: - Educate their employees, going beyond awareness and working to equip people with strategies to actually use their knowledge - Empower disabled and LGBTQIA+ people through talks, workshops and mentoring - Embed conscious inclusion into their culture and strategies - Create Environments where everyone can thrive. I work with people to embed lasting and sustainable change. I've had the privilege of working in multiple sectors in different countries and can use that in conjunction with my fabulous neurodivergent brain to think creatively and ambitiously about solutions to many workplace problems. I can balance the big picture, strategic thinking with the operational details. I use Compassionate Curiosity as a framework for all that I do and love to share how this can be used to create more Inclusive environments and strategic plans that set companies apart from the competition. EDI/DEI is constantly changing and evolving. It's hard work, but it can be simple. Simple doesn't mean easy. An intersectional approach to Equality/Equity is at the heart of everything I do. I believe that if we only address one element of injustice, we risk replicating systems of oppression and leaving people behind, but this doesn't have to be complicated. As a co-director at Simply Equality, our mission is to break down barriers for disabled and LGBTQIA+ people at work whether that is through training, consultancy or public speaking. As a disabled mixed-race, trans non-binary person I bring a wealth of both professional and lived experience to my work, using this to drive forward policies and proposals aimed at fostering institutional and cultural change. I use disability inclusion as a way of taking an intersectional approach to Diversity and Inclusion. Nominated for Oxford University Vice Chancellor's diversity Awards (2022, role model category). Change agent, public speaker and workshop facilitator. If you're passionate about equality, diversity and Inclusion - let's connect! If you want to take your DEI/EDI work to the next level, why not follow the Simply Equality LinkedIn page or see how we could help you?
