Finding Your Tribe: The People Who Keep You Going

We as humans are wired for connection; its part of our DNA. Since the dawn of time, we’ve gathered in tribes- not just for survival, but for belonging, understanding, and shared purpose. No matter how independent or self-sufficient we think we are, the truth is this: we thrive when we find our people.

You know the saying, "You are who you surround yourself with!" I’ve learned that having the right tribe is everything. They’re the ones who support my wildest ideas, push me when I need it, and stand by me no matter where I go- or how crazy it might seem.

What Does It Mean to Find Your Tribe?

Your tribe is more than just friends or acquaintances. It’s a group of like-minded, ride-or-die people who:

  • Understand- or share- your mindset and values
    • Encourage your growth and success
      • Support you even when you take unconventional paths
        • Hold you accountable when you need it

These are the people who get you, the ones who don’t question why you dream big, why you take risks, or why you refuse to settle for less. Instead, they say, “Hell yes, go for it!”

Why Humans Have Always Needed a Tribe

From ancient hunter-gatherers wandering the steppes, to modern-day innovators hustling through Silicon Valley, humans have always gravitated toward social structures. We’re wired for connection because, deep down, we know something crucial:

          No one succeeds alone.

Think about it... every great leader, artist, and entrepreneur had people behind them. Steve Jobs had Apple’s early team. J.R.R. Tolkien had The Inklings. Oprah has an entire network of supporters who believe in her vision.

Even the most self-reliant person needs people who inspire, challenge, and uplift them.

That’s what a true tribe does.

          How to Find Your Tribe

So, how do you actually find these people? It’s not about luck, but about intentional connection.

          1) Seek Out Like-Minded People

Your tribe isn’t necessarily made up of those closest to you by default. Sometimes, you have to go out and find them. That means:

          • Joining communities related to your passions. There ARE people out there who want the same things you do.
            • Engaging in conversations where your interests thrive. Don't be shy!
              • Attending events, workshops, and meetups. Do your research, find them, and join them.
                • Being open to new friendships and collaborations. Push your boundaries and step outside of your comfort zone.

                  2) Look for People Who Challenge You

A real tribe isn’t just a hype squad- hype is great, but that's not what you need. You need your tribe to push you to be better. They’ll lovingly call you out when you’re holding back and remind you of your potential when you doubt yourself.

                  3) Trust Your Instincts

You’ll know when you’ve found the right people. There’s an ease to it... no forced conversations, no pretending to be someone you’re not. Just pure, mutual understanding.

                  How to Strengthen Your Tribe

Finding your people is just the beginning. Keeping those connections strong is what turns friendships into lifelong bonds.

                  Express Gratitude

Never take your people for granted. Send that text, make that call, show up when it matters. Gratitude fuels connection.

                  Support Them Back

A tribe isn’t a one-way street. Be the person who lifts others up, just like they do for you. Their success is your success. People don't forget when someone was there for them in their most uncertain times.

Stay Connected, No Matter Where You Go

True tribes transcend space and time. My people support me no matter where I go, no matter how crazy my journey gets. And because of them, I never feel alone in my pursuits.

                  The Bottom Line

Life isn’t meant to be a solo journey. Find your tribe. Build those connections. Show up for them. Let them show up for you. Because when you have the right people in your corner, there’s no limit to what you can achieve. Express gratitude for their place in your life.

Now go out and find your people. They’re waiting for you.
