What to Expect

My drive to guide junior designers stems from a deep commitment to fostering innovation and empowering the next generation of design talent. My enthusiasm for helping others is rooted in the joy of seeing mentees grow, whether it’s refining their prototyping skills or tackling complex user challenges. With extensive experience in user experience (UX) design across fintech, medicine, gaming, edtech, and e-commerce, I aim to inspire mentees to create visually appealing, user-centric, and business-engaging products. My work at Co-Creation Hub (CcHUB) through the Sub-Saharan Africa Edtech Fund (SEF), in collaboration with the Gates Foundation, has fueled my passion for mentoring designers to develop AI-driven educational tools that enhance learning outcomes for children and teachers in South Africa, Kenya, and Nigeria. My goal is to instil a sense of purpose, encouraging mentees to use design to drive social impact while mastering user-focused frameworks.

My expertise in product strategy, information architecture, prototyping, design accessibility, and front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) equips me to mentor across diverse design disciplines. I am motivated to teach mentees how to align design decisions with business goals, ensuring products are both intuitive and commercially viable. Through hands-on guidance, I help junior designers navigate user research, create personas, and map user journeys to address real-world challenges. My experience with AI-driven pedagogy and content systems allows me to impart specialized knowledge in designing intuitive information architectures for complex platforms, particularly in edtech. I also emphasise accessibility, teaching mentees to apply WCAG guidelines to create inclusive digital experiences that serve diverse audiences.

Collaboration is at the heart of my mentorship philosophy. I guide mentees to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including developers and stakeholders, fostering clear communication and advocacy for user needs. By sharing my skills in prototyping with tools like Figma and conducting usability testing, I empower mentees to iterate designs confidently. My technical knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript helps bridge the gap between design and development, enabling mentees to create feasible, high-quality solutions. I am particularly enthusiastic about mentoring in edtech, where I encourage mentees to explore innovative AI-driven tools that transform education, drawing from my work.
